If anyone is needing a video card upgrade I have one. Adrienne got me a new one for my birthday so my old one is up for grabs. I don't remember the specs on it, but I bet Drake could use it. Maybe Neko since I don't know what Neko has video card wise. Anyway, if someone wants it let me know. It's not a bad card, just not as good as the new one.

I can now see the reflections on NPC's wearing metal. It is so freaking sweet!

Big Smash Bros. tournament in San Jose on October 28!

The OC Remix thread has a good summary of the competition and its rules. Follow the link at the bottom of the first post to the official thread for more info.

Note that San Jose is also the home of Slave Labor Graphics, publisher of Roman Dirge and Jhonen Vasquez titles.

Potential road trip?

For all of you waiting for anything more Capoeira in your life, on the 23rd of September is the 2006 ADB Batizado. It's our big yearly event where we get a bunch of Mestres from all over the US and Brazil to come down and teach workshops, have fun, play Capoeira and initiate the new students officially. That's when we get our Cordao's (belt thingys) for play Capoeira with a Mestre. I will obviously be involved as I will be getting my first Cordao and helping with just about anything else anyone asks of me there. But anyway, if you want to see some awesome Capoeira (the best of the best will be there) it is open to the public for $10 (I think). The workshops end at 6 and that's when the big Roda starts. Then you can all see me get picked on by someone far my superior. YAY!

If anyone remembers the Capoeira DVD I got last year (with the man we unofficially name "Magic" because he was so freaking awesome) this is that event, only a year later and involving me. So yeah, people should come and support me because I'm your friend. Call it a birthday present.

A handy piece of trivia "Batizado" means baptism in Portuguese. That's right, for all of you out there that know I'm not religious, you can say you get to see me baptized.

Come to the Batizado!

For those of you who did not come to the 29 1/2 hour playwright's festival:

You totally missed out!

It was a totally fun time with totally awesome plays that will never bee seen again.

in other news Comic Potential Sac city college's first official production of the season opens next week on the 22nd. I will be going and I will be able to give rides.
Prepare for head explodey.

Ready?

All right.

Behold.

Shadowrun Online.

I learned of this from listening to an episode of Game Music Radio which featured an interview with the hosts of VJDJ, the OCRemix podcast. Turns out zircon is working on the soundtrack to the upcoming Shadowrun MMORPG.

Exciting.

Update: Link fixed. And yes, upon further inspection, they are extremely early in the development process. However, a poll on their site pointed me to something with a bit more immediate potential.

The Shadowrun FPS.

So the Super-Hero game...I'm working on it but I need some more characters. I already have approved Neko and Jess and Adrienne and Lenny, but everyone else is still in pre-approval. It is my belief that Brian, Drake, Cody, and John were interested in playing and, if so, please get me characters soon.

Also, those characters I have approved, I would like copies of your character sheets and character bios. Please include origins, family members, occupation (if other than just Super Hero), and other information I can use for plot hooks and power exploitation. I'm not going to set a date on this, but try to have it next time you see me if you're approved. I know Jess has a character sheet binder, just drop an extra copy of the sheet in there for me with the bio. I don't want any of this in e-mail please because the formatting tends to get messy. Yes I'm picky! Anyway, anyone wanting to play that has not yet been approved, hurry up please, more heroes means more villains and more stories (even if you're not at the session).

So everyone knows, there will also be cameos from certain well known heroes and villains. Don't worry, you won't have to fight them, but they will show up from time to time for encouragement or cool effect.

This sunday at 8pm at Sacramento City College is the 7th annual 29 1/2 hour playwrighting festival (it's wright and not write).

By now you're probably asking yourself "what is a 29 1/2 hour playwrighting festival?" Well its simple really; 9 new plays will be created, rehearsed, and performed
in 29 1/2 hours, for the entertainment of the audience and the celebration of performing art. And you can be a part of this for a trifling ten dollar entry fee.

I no Longer Wanna be Sedated. I did it! 100% Mr. Neko. 100%. I don't know why, but your score was exactly 100 points higher than mine, but I don't even care. I hit every note. Yay! ANy non-believers out there can ask Adrienne, she is my witness! Plus the score only 100 points below Neko says alot. Woot, we are Guitar Gyros.

Ah, the miracle of editing. I have removed the problem entirely by putting in an incorrect world that sounds (so I'm told) the same.

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin dead
September 04, 2006
THE Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is dead.

He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said. It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest.

He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that' is when it occured.

Mr Irwin's body was being flown to Cairns.

Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas.

It is believed Mr Irwin's American-born wife Terri is trekking on Cradle Mountain in Tasmania and has yet to be told of her husband's death.

Mr Irwin - known worldwide as the Crocodile Hunter - is famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchcry "Crikey!".

The father of two's Crocodile Hunter program was first broadcast in 1992 and has been shown around the world on cable network Discovery.

He has also starred in movies and has developed the Australia Zoo wildlife park, north of Brisbane, which was started by his parents Bob and Lyn Irwin.

Oh, by the way...

...and don't forget to respond to my RPG proposition below Chase's "If God Posted To A Blog, It Would Be This Long" post.
So I've only got a couple votes, but it seems like Super-hero's is going to win and I would very much like to run a game of Super-hero's. So that's what it's going to be.

Powerlevel will be 10. Everyone starts at 10 and that's the only limit as far as powers goes. Follow the other limits in the book, but everything else is pretty much fair game subject to my approval.

Also I'm opening this game to pretty much anyone we do RPG's with (that includes you, Liam, when you get back from France). It'll be pick up games whenever we get 4 or more people together who want to play and you can convince me to do it. It'll be pretty easy to convince me since I don't have to carry around nearly as many books for Supers.

As for the book, I want everyone to become familiar with the system. THAT MEANS EVERYONE. It doesn't mean Lenny tell everyone how to do something in the middle of combat, or ask Neko to pretty much run your combat for you, be familiar with the system. Learn it, understand it. It really helps to streamline the combat if everyone knows what they're doing. If you don't have the book, get access to it. I know Neko has it, I think John has it, and someone else could always run out and buy it. I will not be loaning my copy out to anyone because I need it to build all the villains you'll be fighting, so don't ask me for it.

As for game times, since it's a pickup game they can be anytime, but due to people's frequently busy schedules most games will probably take place on the weekends or in the evenings, just so you know.

Characters: Since this game is not going to require all players all the time it won't be as closely knit a party as D&D generally is, but I do what all the characters to know each other. Kind of a very relaxed super group. You're all associated, but when you stop that bank robbery the civilians don't know which of you it will be and don't really expect all of you to be there. You share a base, you work together when you can, but sometimes you run solo, or someone goes on vacation, etc. That way we can say Mighty Girl is on vacation if her player can't make it to a session, or she's off solving some other crime. You know, that kind of thing. But please, please, please, everyone play nice with the other hero's. You are hero's, and while some hero's are jerks and pompous, lets try not to have more than 2 of those in the group. Best case scenario we'll have none of those jerks. Anyway, I;ve started to ramble on. So yeah, you'll all share a base with various necessities, a crime-puter, an infirmary, private rooms for each of you, all the types of things you should need. We can add things as they are requested.

I think this is the last thing, lets try to discuss character concepts before characters are made so that we don't have people stepping on each other's toes. Just drop concepts into the comments here and you can drop extra concepts out there for other people to use if they're having trouble coming up with something. Lets also try to round the group out. Not everyone should be a different kind of from line tank.

Oh, real last thing. Origins. Where did your powers come from? And where did you come from? Do you have family? Do you have a secret identity? Etc. All that character building stuff that I would like to know for plot hooks. That should be all. Start coming up with characters.

(And as for you, Mr. Powers, happy early birthday. Curse you being my elder!)

Because Chase was saying i hijacked his post:

incedentally, pending my return, i'd like to start a game of my own in one of the following settings:

1) The universe of "A Fire Upon The Deep," a Hugo-Award winning SF/Fantasy(!!) novel with a fantawesome setting.

2) Good ol' WoD, character type chosen individually. (Yes, old school. This new WoD is just awful.)

3) The highly acclaimed setting of "The Epic Legends of the Heirarchs: The Elemenstor Saga" by controversial author Tycho Brahe.
